The Story

 This story begins with a dream to run a community café that will help the people of Villawood. The question Debbie & Gennine (you can meet her in the Café) asked them selves, was  “how could this ever happen? 

 A group of people from Greenacre Church of Christ started two weekly programs 0n Mondays: a Kids club and a free community dinner. Through their involvement in these activities, Debbie & Gennine’s passion and vision for the area grew. One day out of the blue, the church was contacted by a television producer. They said they were doing a good news story on Villawood. The concept was that a volunteer would work alongside Debbie & Gennine  for a week to discover what the needs in the area were, and celebrate the selfless work of many community groups. This person turned out to be Leanne Wesche, one of the Secret Millionaire’s on the Australian TV series ‘The Secret Millionaire’. Leanne Wesche was filmed going undercover. At the end of the filming, Leanne donated $60,000 to support the dream of opening a community café and second hand clothing store in the area of Villawood.

 The dream is now a reality, and this Café is open for the community. Life@Leanne’s Community Café &preloved clothing will not only be offering healthy discounted food, drink and clothing, but also a Monday night community meal and support. The Café aims to offer the community a positive meeting place where they can feel relaxed and safe.
