Imagine a church where people are free to experience God and enjoy each other. That's the kind of church we want to be.
When you think of church, you may think of hymns with organ music, sitting on hard pews, and boring talks. We're not like that, we don’t have an organ, and Church has changed to what you might remember.
"But I'm not believer..." Actually, there are quite a few people who come to our gatherings that are not yet believers. We're all on a spiritual journey to meet and know God, and each one of us is at a different place in that journey. We're here to point you in the right direction
We know it's not always easy to walk into something new. Whether you've never gone to church before or you're a lifelong follower of Jesus, you are welcome here. This is a place where you can come as you are to find new ideas, perspectives, and friends.
What should I wear?
Wear what you like. There's no spoken or unspoken dress code. There's no right or wrong. What matters to God and to us is that you are here.
Which Gathering should I attend?
Here are some things to think about as you make that decision:
Location: The closer you live to where the church community gathers, the easier it is for you to be actively involved. We have congregations located at Greenacre, Strathfield and Menai. Each is very different.
What to expect?
For some people going anywhere for the first time can be a bit of an uncertain experience. For people who have young children, their first stop is checking the little ones in with our wonderful Children's Ministry volunteers (at most of our gatherings) After placing the little tikes in such capable hands, people usually find the fresh coffee pretty quickly. In many of our gatherings we sing some songs, the pastor will teach from the bible, and we will
celebrate in communion (remembering that Jesus loves us, died and rose again for us). We will always have the words available on a very large screen in case the song is new to you. Then, our pastor will get up and discuss a specific area of the Bible. It is our goal to understand the Bible as it was written and use it as the tool to transform our lives and our home. We will finish with just a song or two before we will take off to a new week and all of the adventures that it will bring.
What about the offering basket?
Please let the offering basket go by and be our guest. The regular attenders of our church, give joyfully in worship and gratitude to God to support the ongoing work of the church. We do hope you will fill out a Connect Card from the welcome packs and drop it in the basket, and let us know how we might serve you.
Who are we?
Greenacre Church of Christ consists of a wide range of different people, from all ages and different backgrounds. Whoever you are you are assured a very warm welcome at the church. If you would like, take a minute to find out what we believe and why we exist.
Is it just Sundays? Absolutely not! God is not something that we just do or talk about on Sunday mornings. We believe our spiritual life is an integral part of everything we do from work to family. Therefore, the lifeblood of our church are our Life Cell Groups that meet throughout the week for Bible study, prayer, accountability, and service. These groups are Christ centred communities that experience authentic relationships while travelling through the many crossings of life. Greenacre is a church composed of small groups that scatter throughout the area, experiencing community and impacting neighbourhoods, the city, and the world.
We would love you to connect with others.
Everybody's welcome
Join us as we seek together to live life differently, as Jesus did. To live with an eternal outlook today. This is a place where you can find community, healing, and spiritual growth. There is a place for you here.
Children hold a very special place in God's kingdom. We believe the most essential aspect of a child's life is a relationship with Jesus. By making weekly worship a family priority, you impart to children the vital importance of orienting their lives around Jesus. Worship is not just another "thing to do;" it is the most important thing you can do for your kids.
These are busy years, full of changes and transitions. We want every teenager to have a place to feel completely accepted and yet challenged, to experience fellowship and community, to develop a personal relationship with Jesus, and to be empowered to use their gifts.
